D-50 / 550 / VC-1

Got one of these classic Roland synths? It’s your lucky day!

On and off since the beginning of this year, I’ve spent quality time with a beloved friend from my past teenager days. The Roland D-50. What a mighty synth. What an almighty synth.

I started programming patches for it mainly because I needed some good food for the add-ons part of my Fairlight CMI Legacy & Supersonic refills so that’s how I made the Vangelis patch for the refill.

This bank is not ready. However. If you are a Gearslut… (yup!)… you can get a preview bank for free.

Read more about the bank & download the tiny zipped sysex file here!

Demo of the bitley™ D-50 sound ‘Yamaha TX812 Funk’ included in the bank.

Hi Patrick, I just ordered me a Roland V-Synth that comes with the D-50 card in it. I have not yet received the V-Synth but I am excited in trying out the demo preview bank, but want to be able to buy the full D-50 bank. Is this still an option? Thanks

Paul, you’re such a genuinly supportive and kind guy!

Even if I would have a complete bank, I wouldn’t be able to charge for it, knowing you’re one of my absolutely most polite customers. Do try out the demo bank, tell me what you thought, tell me if it worked out well. I will eventually fix a complete D-50 bank one day but as I’m doing this thing basically on my own, focus has to be where the customers are. You’re one of the first even replying on the D-50 thing. However, the D-50 is wonderful programming – I finally learned how to do it properly. Being an old Juno & JX freak, I’ve had several D-50s but never gotten so close to them as I’ve done this time. I’ve actually had a V-Synth too, with the D-50 card. It was great – only problem was, I mostly used it for the D-50 card and that was back when it was still quite an expensive synth. I kind of miss it, it was fabolous with the flash storage (10 Mb), the first sampler I’ve tried that really acted like a synth (sample “Hi”, store the patch, turn it off; turn it on another day, press the key – it goes “Hi” :) Let me know when you have your new synth, I’ll happily do some patches for you.

      Kudos,
      Patrick

Hi Patrick, I just tried out your D-50 earlier today and loved it! If you have any more patches for the D-50 I would love to use them. Thanks :)

Thanks a lot Paul! I must really thank you for your dedication to checking out everything I do. There hasn’t been much response on these D-50 sounds but I am very glad you discovered them. I still have the synth & still love tweaking sounds with it so I will probably keep making sounds for it. :-)

          All the best,
          Patrick

Hi Patrick, is it the D50 patch can work in VC-1

    1. bitley says:

      Hi!

      Absolutely, it does! :)
