Flux, introduced December 2011, is a brand new creation from Bitley, famous for introducing the worldwidely acknowledged Fairlight refills.
It contains samples taken from Fairlight XXL, Korg Trinity and Casio CZ-5000. The idea with Flux, however, is not to just do “yet another sample library”, but rather to create a new instrument. All of the patches in Flux are Combinator patches, and they are designed to be tweaked – in realtime or left as is.
The Wave knob does wonderful things with the sounds – samples are shifted and a layered Reason synthesizer follows this, to make Flux behave a little bit like Reason’s own Malström synth. This also means that any sound very easily can be tweaked and adjusted to your personal taste. There has been no “set standard” for the underlying programming, although all of the patches are using the same skin. So the things that happens with the sounds differ from one sound to another. Some patches are mean, digital and frightening while others are ultra big or tiny and pristine.

The Flux combinator skin was meticously designed by Emmkay and Bitley.
Bonus: If you have Fairlight XXL already, Flux provides a bonus bank with even more sounds using the vast amount of samples in XXL. If you would like both, they are sold as a bundle for just $99.
Flux is also included in Fairlight Platinum.

I love the sounds of this refill. Great job!
How many patches are included and what instrument categories can I look forward to if I buy it?

Thanks Ben!
Each Flux patch is a complete “instrument group” and you can find between like 10-1000 new sounds (or variations, sometimes extreme ones) in each patch. The Flux patches are the same ones as in the Fairlight Platinum refill; you can see a full PDF on the page for that refill. The Flux patches are on page 15 or 16 (16 pages of patches…)
Best, Patrick
